Responsible for set-up, lay-out, and tack-up of various precision frame weldments and brackets.

FTI Welder II

Responsibilities

 • Performs stick weld alloy steel (AS), carbon steel (CS), and stainless steel (SS).
• Welds CS-CS, SS-SS, and CS-SS, plate and pipe welding, dissimilar metals and exotic metals.
• Squares up and welds various geometries of components.
• Understands various weld form symbols on blue prints and understands size of fillet forms. 
• Operates 4.5 inch and 7 inch angle grinder, manual vertical band saw, pedestal grinder, and various clamps and fixtures. 
• Operates forklift to move large/heavy parts into/out of workstation.
• Welds horizontal plane geometry.
• Understands various edge preps before welding.
• Sets up flanges & adapters
• Understands set up techniques.
• Tacks up piping components to tight tolerances. 
• Welds out to exact tolerances. 
• Holds final required cosmetic finish with angle grinders and sanders. 
• Uses five ton crane in a safe manner. 
• Moves parts and heavy frames on and off machinery and throughout the facility. 
• Reads complicated prints and “spec. weld “Symbols” in conjunction with manual machinist for first and second opp. Procedures
• Follows safety rules and reports any unsafe conditions or accidents immediately to supervisor.
• Performs ancillary duties as needed. 

Requirements

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. 
• Must own tools supply for daily tasks.
• Four years’ experience either in a pipe production or job shop environment.
• Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Certification in welding.
• Pass test demonstrating proficiency in CS-CS, SS-SS, and CS-SS, plate and pipe welding.
• Essential Rigging knowledge to operate 5 ton crane required
• Be able to work overtime where required.
• Pass test demonstrating proficiency in all aspect of Welder I
• Proficient in Tig Welding
